PB: Harry Lloyd, TV show images
Journal: http://dragonawakes.dreamwidth.org/Age: Early-Mid Twenties
Appearance: Viserys is of an average height with a slim but fit build. He has pale skin, white-blonde hair, and pale lavender eyes. His features are sharp and aristocratic looking. His posture is straight, even stiff, and he presents himself with an air of superiority. In his mind, he is a king, and he carries himself that way. He likes to dress well, if he is able.

Personality: Viserys is often thought of as a fool. He has many negative traits that make him appear that way. Believing himself to be the rightful king, he feels that others must cater to him and not the other way around. This often makes him short-sighted in his decision making, and unwilling to learn and adapt to other cultures that he may encounter. This also makes him susceptible to flattery, and easily taken advantage of by people who appeal to his sense of personal importance. He also tends to see himself as a wise leader, and will assume what whatever knowledge he already possesses on any given subject is adequate, and he is slow to adapt and learn additional information. That being said, while he is vain and quick to overestimate his own importance and believe things people tell him as long as they flatter him and appeal to this pride, he’s not actually stupid.
There are times when Viserys can actually be quite cunning and resourceful. He has survived on his own as well as raising his younger sister since early childhood. He has begged, borrowed, and stolen his whole life to keep himself and his sister alive, something he personally finds degrading. Decades of what he sees as indignities have warped him. He grows increasingly bitter his lot in life, and being denied the title and honors that he feels entitled to. Those around him have not helped him. Even when he has been given a home and a place at a table, it is always by their charity, by people who want something from him in return. Even those who support him do so to their own advantage, often whispering flattery in his ear while laughing at him behind his back. That, combined with poor mental stability inherited from his father, has taken a toll on his mental and emotional state. While his self-importance might be unwarranted, much of what he’s been subjected to has been legitimately humiliating, so his bitterness and frustration are not without good reason.
Viserys is often bitter and sullen, with a temper that can easily turn violent. He’s often frustrated, and can take that frustration out on people weaker than him. He has no great strength or fighting ability, and often feels like others must simply endure his rage due to the respect he feels entitled to but never seeks to earn. This can lead him to easily make threats his has no way of carrying out, and can get him into serious trouble. Sadly this only fuels his anger and frustration. He is also something of a coward when physically confronted.
He likes sensual pleasures; music, food, wine, sex, and so on. He seems himself as someone who would be a good and wise ruler. However, while he does possess some cunning, resilience, and some strength of determination, it is likely his rule would have been similar to his father’s had it occurred. However, he is not really in touch with the reality of this. He seems to think that the citizens hate the king that defeated his father and brother, and believe that they all love him and wish for his return. This is a fantasy, but he never realizes that.
Having lived as a beggar from childhood, he craves his dignity. He wants honor, even love. It’s not his sister’s title among her people that he envies as much as the fact that they love her. His life has left him hungry to be treated with respect, and maintain some part of his dignity. Sadly, it is frustration and anger at not having these things that make him behave in ways that keep him from getting it.
Why would your character be chosen? Because of his determination and staying-power. He could have taken an easier path and simply settled into a life as a noble exile, but he would not give up on what he felt he deserved. He willingly suffered terrible indignities to feed his sister and keep her safe, and to take back what he felt was rightfully his. Even if his methods were often poorly chosen, he has a powerful determination.
How much does your character know about nonhumans? None. He knows that dragons and magic used to exist in his world, but his knowledge of them is second hand and incomplete. He presumes to know more than he really does.
Why this character: I enjoy his voice. He is legitimately a nasty piece of work. But, he also has a history that makes his behavior, not excusable, but understandable. He’s as tragic is he is awful.

4. SamplesPlease either include a first-person entry that could be your character's first post on The Network, or a third-person prose or action spam sample that could be your character's reaction to arriving in Dagaz. For the other two samples, links to previous character examples are fine.First-Person: As the rightful Kind of the Andals and lawful ruler of the seven kingdoms, I demand to know why I have been brought here. I was told that I was chose as some kind of potential mate for some prince? No. Perversion will not be tolerated. This is inexcusable, and we, as a people, must not tolerate it. If someone can tell me what exactly what this civil war is about and who this Tristan is, I will grant you mercy and my favor. I will not forget my friends when I return to my throne. Now, come with me to find a way to leave this place.
Third-Person: The bed is comfortable. The room is clean. The devices are, in truth, fascinating. The radio plays some classical music, the closest thing to what he’s heard before. No, it’s not unpleasant.
But it’s not where he wants to be.
Viserys paces, his hands behind his back, several time around the adequate room. He turns on the water and cups his hand under the flow, letting it run through his long, white fingers as he examines the blue color. He makes an annoyed grunt in the back of his throat and bathes his face in the coolness of it anyway. The cloth feels unnaturally soft to him as he pats his face dry. He takes a moment to examine himself in the mirror.
“When I find a way back , if I can bring such devices to king’s landing, they will never cease singing my praises in songs.”
